Get to Know Your VSWGA
I am a native Floridian but came to New England to attend MHC and never left. Unfortunately, I didnít pick up the game of golf until after college. I played tennis through college but then discovered golf. I started playing because the guys at the accounting firm would take off the day to play in charity tournaments or with their clients. I didnít want to be left in the office so I started to play. It is true a bad day on the golf course beats a good day in the office. In the off season, I am chained to my desk doing taxes for individuals and small businesses. My CPA practice also includes consulting with socially responsible businesses, start ups and private equity investors. My personal goal is always to play golf on April 15.
I have been fortunate to be on the board of the VSWGA since joining in 2004. I have served as treasurer and president, as well as club rep for Brattleboro Country Club. It has been interesting being exposed to the many facets of the VSWGA from course ratings, handicaps, coordination with other state, regional and national associations, and of course golf tournaments. I have the utmost respect for the people who have laid the foundation for the VSWGA over the past 80 years and my fellow golfers, who continue to volunteer their time.
The things that drew me to the game originally still hold true today. I love that golfers of all skill levels can enjoy a round together and the beauty of our golf courses. I continue to search for the elusive pure golf shot.
