The VSWGA is providing a new Message Board facility on our web site to facilitate communication within the organization. Please feel free to share your ideas, suggestions, complaints, questions, and tips with other members.
To access the Message Board, click on the Message Board icon in the left column of the VSWGA home page just below the Chelsea link. This will take you to the message screen. Our Message Board is password protected to prohibit unauthorized people from accessing the messages. The password is the same as the initial password for the Chelsea system. If you do not know this password, email your name, home club, and GHIN number to capaquet@msn.com and I will email the password to you. The box for entering the password is in the center of the screen. You might have to scroll down a little to see it. Enter the password and click the "Submit" button.
After entering the correct password, the main Message Board Forum page will appear. You must be a registered user to post messages or reply to the messages posted by others. To register, click on the Register tab on the top left of page and enter your choice of username and password. You will also need to enter your email address. There are several other options fields and preferences that you can also fill in or select. You can go back and change your settings at any time. When you are finished, click the "Submit" button. Exit the message board and check your email. You will receive a confirmation email from the message board. You must click on the confirmation link to complete the registration process. If you don't see the email, check your junk mail.
After you have registered, you can just enter your username and password in the Login fields to be able to post messages. Note: you can view the messages without logging in. Once you have logged in, the Register tab will change to a Control Panel tab where you can change your settings, access Private Messages, etc.
Below the tabs and login section, are listed the seven forums (Administration, State Days, Championships, Rules, Miscellaneous, Local Tournaments, and Flea Market). Click on a Forum to display the treads that have been posted in that forum. A thread is simply a topic and all of the related replies. The forum page shows the number or posts, number of threads, and information about the last post. The symbol on the left shows you where new posts have been made since your last visit to the Message Board.
The other tabs above the Forums allow you to search for message by keyword or other criteria, to access the Calendar with the tournament, meeting, and seminar schedule, and to access all of the new posts since your last visit.
After you have selected a Forum, the next page shows a list of the threads that have been posted to that Forum with the author, number of views and replies, and date of the last post. Click the New Topic tab to start a new thread. Click on a message to view the content of the original message followed by all of the replies. To post a reply of your own, click on the Reply tab at the top and bottom right.
Near the top of each panel, there is a link hierarchy. For example: Vermont State Women's Golf Association > Forum > Rules > Golf Etiquette. You can jump back to the VSWGA home page or any of the Message Board pages in the list by clicking on the page name.
Private Messaging is a feature which allows you to communicate privately with another registered user of the Message Board without knowing their email address and without revealing your own address. The feature is accessible under the Control Panel. This feature should be useful in communicating with a buyer or seller in the Flea Market sections. You should not person your personal information in a posting that can be viewed by everyone.
Please feel free to contribute your thoughts as often as you like, but remember to keep your comments polite and respectful. Enjoy!
