Libby Smith and Margie Mather-Bowes in NEWGA Top 20
The 45th New England Women's Golf Association Championship was won Thursday by
Abby Spector of Waterville, Maine with a three-day total of 227, just one stroke
better than Natalie Galligan of Wellesley, Ma, Laura Shanahan of Bedford, NH, and
Laura Torrisi of Lunenburg, MA.
Two time Vermont amateur champion, Libby Smith, was the top Vermonter finishing in
a 12th place tie at 241. Margie Mather-Bowes, last year's state am runner-up
and mid-am champion, finished in 17th place with a 243 total. The only other
Vermonter to make the 36-hole cut was Lolly Katz of the Country Club of Vermont. She
finished with a total of 267.
