Final State Day Awards

Cindy Paquet, of Essex, won the 2002 Janet Lang Trophy for the most points in state days during the 2002 season in a close race with Jayne Magnant of West Bolton. Cindy had 84 points and Jayne had 72.

The Genevieve Babbitt Smith Memorial Trophy for the individual who lowered her handicap the most during the 2002 season went to Kathy Kemp of the Country Club of Barre. Kathy lowered her handicap by 6.6 strokes this past year due, in part, to her fantastic round of 70 in last year's Lake St. Catherine state day. This breaks Williston's four-year string of wins for this award. Other players receiving awards for lowering their handicaps were Isabelle Daley/Finch of Rocky Ridge (B Division) - 17.7 to 14.2, Janet McCardle of Rutland (C Division) - 24.8 to 21.2, Barbara Dittmer of Manchester (D Division) - 28.9 to 23.2, and Cheryl Starling of Cedar Knoll (E Division) - 30.9 to 26.4.

The Mae Murray Jones Trophy for the Division I club with the most points went to Williston for the third consecutive year with 50 points in a closely contested battle with Rutland, Barre, and Burlington. The Division II award went to West Bolton with 42 points while the Division III award went to Copley with 23 points.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Congratulations also to Dora Pealer and Cindy Paquet both of whom had a hole-in-one during state day competition.
