VSWGA Board Meeting Summary

Board Meeting Summary of 7/16/03

The VSWGA Board met on 7/16 at Barre. We had a busy session, as you can imagine, with the summer in full gear. Here are a few highlights:

1.) State Day related: At least two club reps have tried using the TPP program to enter State Day scores the day of the tournament and it seemed to go well. They will talk about their experience at the annual mtg. Roberta Lynch and Kathy Domenicucci have been backing Shari up so that we have more than one person familiar with the Chelsea system.

2.) Course Rating: 9 courses have had some activity with course rating this summer, so the group has been busy. Harriet Parot has been orienting to the committee.

3.) Tournaments: Vermont finished 2nd behind NH at Tri-States. Congratulations to all participants. The inaugural State Match Play Championship at Crown Point was a success. 30 players participated over the course of a rainy weekend, but all had a great time, and we know this event will grow as the years continue. The first Mid-Ams only had 30 folks, too. Thanks to Kathy Allbright for chairing the event. Cindy Paquet was the winner. The Seniors’ Am had a full field and was also won by Cindy Paquet. Nice job Kathy Kemp!

4.)Website: Cindy has added a juniors’ section with links to other related websites.

5.)Junior Golf: The first clinic was attended by 30 people and very successful. Mary Ann Levins and Leo Reynolds put in a lot of work to make it happen. There are 2 more scheduled, plus the inaugural State Match Play Tournament for Junior Girls. The raffle to support these activities was a success. Winners were evenly distributed across the State(Alburg, Rutland, and Brattleboro)! We need to find a funding source for continuation of this activity and are writing a grant through the USGA for such.

6.) Executive Director Update: We have some sample job descriptions from the USGA and are drafting something for presentation at the annual mtg.

7.) Nominations Committee: Sue Ginnett has been appointed Chair. Nancy Bowen, Shari Pfannenstein, and Jeanne Di Battisto are up for 2nd terms. If you have any interest in serving on the Board, please e-mail Sue at Sue1942@Vtlink.net

If you have any questions/concerns about anything(!), please let me know!!!!!!!!! Enjoy the rest of the season!
