She said she feelslt we had accomplished our goals for the year for fun and challenging golf for women in Vermont.

the Board has met their five goals for the year.

Website Report* was presented by Cindy Paquet.

Course Ratings Report* was given by Margaret Dick.

Handicap Chair Report* was presented by Pat Job who advised that three clubs have still not paid their Ghin fees. Another billing goes out this month and she foresees no problems.

State Day/Chelsea Report* Shari Pfannenstein reported a total of 509 players for 2003 (down for the third year in a row). More and more State Day communications have been done electronically and we survived our first year of Chelsea with very few problems. Shari will be turning over State Day, Points and Chelsea to Sue Ming.

Rules Report* Shari had little time to offer any clinics but next year plans on offering some 1-day outdoor, on-course mini rules clinics.

Junior Golf Report* was presented by Mary Ann Levins. With help from Karen Casavant, Leo Reynolds and Libby Smith, 3 junior girls clinics were held throughout the state creating enthusiasm and excitement for junior golf. The 2003 Inaugural VT State Junior Girls Championship was held July 29-31. Kathy Domenicucci has applied for a grant from USGA for junior girls golf.

WRAC Report* Stella Sargent, the VT rep to the Women’s Regional Affairs Committee, attended the annual meeting of the USGA in Feb 2003. She also reported on the scramble tournament in September to raise money for the VGA the Scholarship Fund for Junior golfers.

She also reported on the first VSWGA Match Play Championship* held June 13-15 at Crown Point CC with a field of 29 players.

Tri-State Tournament* and State Amateur Championship and Buxton Cup Tournaments* reports were presented by Liz Walker. She commended Cindy Paquet for her website coverage of these and other events in a timely fashion with accuracy and interest.

Seniors Tournament. There was no report.

Enid Letourneau reported that the Mid-Amateur Tournament* held at Champlain CC Sept 13-14 was won by Ethelyn Bartlett.

Old Business: Executive Director: Cathy Brown said the Board recommends putting off for another year the hiring of an Executive Director.

New Business: Chelsea System Manager Position: Cathy Brown introduced Sue Ming who will be assuming the position which will be paid for by a $6,000 grant from USGA. The VSWGA office will be located at St. Johnsbury CC which will house the Chelsea system and will have space for an intern from USGA.

VGA Scholarship Fund: Jeanne diBattisto explained that VSWGA is currently contributing $10,000 compared to VGA’s $20,000. She said that compared with the number of women golfers vs men golfers, VSWGA should really be contributing $4,500. This amount would be equal to 10% of our GHIN income which is really the only revenue we have. Joan Rizio suggested that VGA contributes $40,000 not $20,000 but Stella Sargent explained that $40,000 is the amount paid out not the VGA contribution. Margaret Dick moved that we pay 10% of our GHIN income in 2004, that we charge the Juniors Committee with examining ways to do more fundraising, and that we review this formula every two years at the Annual Meeting. MOTION APPROVED.

State Day Change Related: Shari Pfannenstein proposed several changes including increasing the weekly fee to $20.00 and increasing the number of winners. A motion to increase the fee to $20.00 was NOT APPROVED.

Nominations Committee: A slate of nominees was presented by Sue Ginnett to fill three slots on the Board. A MOTION WAS APPROVED to cast one ballot for the slate of Shari Pfannenstein, Jeanne diBattisto and Mary Corey.

Liz Walker concluded the meeting by thanking Cathy Brown who is leaving the office of President of the Board in January. The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
