Vermonters Play Professional Tours
Libby Smith,
five-time VSWGA champion, turned pro last December and is playing on a small
professional tour for women in Florida called the Next Generation Women' Golf Tour. She
finished in second place in the tournament on January 7-8 at Westchase GC
picking up her first check as a professional in the amount of $400. She
placed 4th in the January 28-29 event at Plantation Palm GC winning
$325. She has two other 4th place finishes, but did not win money.
Libby received a three-year sponsorship from an Essex couple.
Sue Horton, VSWGA champion in 1995,
1997, and 1998, is also playing on the same tour. She finished 2nd last
weekend at Wentworth Golf and CC winning a nice $800 check.

Kiersten Allbright, runner-up to
Sue in the 1995 championship at Ralph Myhre and to Libby
in the 1999 Championship at Neshobe, is also playing professional golf
as well as teaching at the Orange Tree Golf School in Scottsdale, AZ.
Kiersten is playing on the West Coast Ladies Golf Tour (www.wclgt.com)
which is somewhat larger than the Florida tour. Already this season,
Kiersten has picked up two checks in the first two events of the season.
She won $420 at the Arizona Players Open on January 12-15 and $600 at the
Vistal Golf Classic on January 19-22.
