Libby Smith Playing Asian Tour


According to a recent article in the Burlington Free Press, Libby Smith has been playing several tournaments on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour with some excellent success.  She tied for 6th place in the WuYi Championship in Jiangmen, China on January 20-22 winning a significant sum of $2600.  Libby fired three sub-par rounds of 70, 70, and 71 to finish at 5-under par, just two strokes out of a playoff for first place.  This is the first time in Libby's professional career that she has been under par for all three rounds.  This performance has earned her a spot in the Thailand Ladies Open on March 31-April 3 where the purse is $400,000 - five times the purse of the WuYi tournament.

Earlier, Libby finished tied for 17th at the Kosaido Taiwan-Japan Friendship tournament in Taiwan with a six-over par 222 and tied 50th at the TLPGA & Royal Open also in Taiwan with a 15-over par 231.  The 17th place finished earned her $2086.  

Libby is currently playing in the $200,000 Singapore Ladies Masters at Laguna National Golf Club.  After two rounds of play, Libby is tied for 6th place at -4 with two rounds of 70.  Bo Bae Song of Korean is in the lead at -13 with Charlotta Sorenstam in second place at - 8.  Laura Davies is tied for 4th at - 6.  Libby, the top American in the field, is holding her own with some very famous and accomplished golfers.
