After a very successful winter playing in Asia, Libby Smith has returned to the United States bringing her excellent play with her. She finished in a sixth place tie this weekend (April 24) in the Jalapeno Futures Golf Classic in McAllen, Texas. After an even par opening round, Libby fired back-to-back 69's for a 204 total (6 under par) just six strokes off the lead. You will remember that Libby had two other sixth place finishes in China and Singapore earlier in the season.
The Futures Tour event was won by former NCAA and US Amateur champion Virada Nirapathpongporn of Thailand with a 12 under score of 204 for the 54 hole event at the Palm View Golf Course.
Libby currently stands in 18th place on the overall money list for the Futures Tour with winnings of $3034 in only two of three events so far this season.
