Julie Wightman Wins New Englands
Julie Wightman of Massachusetts won the 49th New England Women's Golf Association Championship Thursday at the Lake of Isles CC in Stonington, CT in a one hole playoff over Joanne Catlin also of Massachusetts. Both players finished the regulation three days of play with scores of 225. Jessica Steward of Connecticut was one stroke back at 226.
Vermont's defending champion Reggie Parker of Ekwanok finished in 12th place at 240 and was the top Vermonter in the field. Other Vermonters were: Kristin Mahoney (254), Ginnie Vogel (268), Elizabeth Walker (272), Patricia Haas (274), Catherine Shomo (276), Kathy Allbright (276) and Nancy Gorham-Lasante (277). Nancy was the only Vermonter to win a prize winning the daily 2nd net prize one the first day of play.
