Vermont Team Set for USGA State Team Championship

The team of Andrea Brown of Williston CC, Kristin Mahoney of Rutland CC, and Liz Walker of Brattleboro CC will represent Vermont in the USGA State Team Championship at Berkeley Hall in Bluffton, SC (near Hilton Head) on September 27-29. These three players will represent Vermont in this prestigious event which has seen top amateur golfers from around the country competing for their home states. Mary Anne Levins of Rutland was originally scheduled to play, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. VSWGA president Elizabeth Walker, the team captain and alternate player, will take her place in the tournament. Andrea will head to the tourney fresh from her victory in the VSWGA Mid-Amateur Championship this weekend.
The tournament format is three days of medal play competition with the best two out of three scores counting towards the team's total score. For the first two days of competition, each state is paired with two other states randomly. Each team member is paired with a team member from the other two states. The teams are paired by standing for the final day of competition.
