Final State Day Awards

The Janet Lang Trophy for the player with the most points for 2007 was shared by Gail Canedy of West Bolton, Nancy Gorham-LaSante of St. Johnsbury and Dora Pealer of Williston.  All three players accumulated 64 points.  Nancy was not at the awards luncheon because she is currently representing Vermont at the USGA State Team Championship in The Woodlands, Texas.  


The Genevieve Babbitt Smith Memorial Trophy for the individual who lowered her handicap the most during the 2007 season went to Betty Kilduff of Lake St. Catherine.  Bette lowered her handicap from 31.0 to 21.0 (10 strokes) in C Division.  Other players receiving awards for lowering their handicaps were Lorraine Bjork of Newport in A Division (18.6-13.7), Tammy Kennedy of Vermont National (23.0-15.5), Diane Bouffard in D Division (32.8-27.9) and Lorraine Mercy of Enosburg Falls (34.0-29.4).


The Mae Murray Jones Trophy for the Division 1 club with the most points went to Burlington Country Club with 79 points.  Last year Burlington was tied with Williston for the trophy.  Cedar Knoll was second with 76 points and Williston was third with 71 points.  The Division 2 awards went to St. Johnsbury Country Club with 55 points for the second consecutive year.  West Bolton was second with 49 points.   The Division 3 award went to Lake St. Catherine with 23 points.  Northfield was second with 17 points.


There were 3 holes-in-one scored in state days during the 2007 season.  Mary Beth Menduni of Crown Point had an ace at Bellows Falls on June 5th.  Suzy O'Kane of Burlington scored one at Jay Peak on August 14th and Bonnie Maurycy of Williston had one at Williston on July 10th.  Reggie Parker of Ekwanok also had a hole-in-one at Haystack during the first round of the Seniors' Championship.
