Stableford State Day Trials
The VSWGA is planning to use the Stableford scoring system for the three state days on June 10th at Vermont National, Woodstock, and Tater Hill. This will be followed by one of three state days (Stratton) on July 8th and then one of the three state days (Killington) on September 9th. Williston was originally scheduled to be a Stableford trial site, but will now be the normal medal play format.
Stableford Competition
Stableford scoring system is a
stroke-play format in which the highest total wins, not the lowest. That's
because in Stableford, your final score is not your stroke total, but rather
the total points you have earned on each individual hole.
The VSWGA Stableford Scoring Point System will be:
Double bogey 1 point
Bogey 2 points
Par 4 points
Birdie 8 points
Eagle 16 points
Albatross
32 points
All scores over a double bogey are equal to zero.
Players must
pick up after reaching their ESC
(equitable stroke control).
ESC
is COURSE Hdcp: 0-9 =
dbl bogey max, 10-19 = 7, 20-29 = 8, 30-36=9.
Each
player at registration will be given her course handicap and ESC.
As we currently do…all flights are based on index.
GROSS = TOTAL Stableford points
NET = TOTAL Stableford points plus your
full handicap index
State
Day points will be awarded for gross and net winners in each division where
the highest total wins.

PLEASE: no more than
two players should be recorded on a single score card.
The goal is to help speed up play and decrease the frustration for
those who are having a bad hole. After play...please fill out the brief survey so we can get a sense of how people
feel about this format. This format will not replace every state day tournament.
Thanks: The Stableford Task Force
