Mid-Amateur Results

The wind was up at Vermont National today making most of the final round scores for the Mid-Amateur Championship a little higher.  Holly Reynolds of Copley fired a 77 today to go with yesterday's sensational round of 67 for a 144 total to win the championship by eight strokes over Tiffany Maurycy of Williston.

This is Holly's second VSWGA championship is less than a month.  She won her 6th State Amateur Championship at Neshobe in August.  Her 67 on Saturday is an unofficial women's course record.  It is unofficial due to the fact that different tees were used from the usual ladies tees.  It is definitely a new record for the Mid-Am Championship and breaks the record of 68 set by Holly and Molly Aronsson for the State Amateur Championship.

Tiffany had the low round of the day with a 76 and a 152 total.  Kristin Mahoney of Rutland finished in third place at 157.  Jeanne Morrissey of Williston was 4th at 160 while Andrea Brown of Champlain was 5th at 161.  Gretchen White of Rocky Ridge was 6th at 165.  Deb Fletcher of Enosburg Falls and Nancy Devaux of West Bolton were tied for 7th at 168.  Susie Bremner of Rocky Ridge was ninth at 169 and Deirdre Mahler of the Country Club of Vermont was 10th at 170.

Jayne Magnant of West Bolton won the low net prize with a net score of 136.  Charlotte Macleay of Barre was second net with a score of 142 while Denise Barnard of West Bolton was 3rd with a 144.  Nicole Laberge of Ralph Myhre and Charlotte Reed of West Bolton were tied for 4th at 146.

Josie Herrera of Vermont National, Sue Bagley of Barre, and Mary Corey of Cedar Knoll were tied for 6th at 147.  Ellen Sheffer of Neshobe, Betty Ann Libby of the Country Club of Vermont, Lisa St. Peter of Champlain, and Nancy Murphy of Proctor-Pittsford were all tied for 9th net at 149.

The team from Williston Country Club won the Margaret Dick Cup with a total of 454.  This trophy is awarded to the club with the lowest two gross scores and one net score over the two days of play.  West Bolton and Rocky Ridge were tied for second at 482.
