Tiffany Maurycy of Williston fired a 74 in the rain-shortened Mid-Amateur Championship at St. Johnsbury Country Club to win the 2013 title by three strokes over seven-time State Amateur champion, Holly Reynolds of Copley.  One of those championships came last year at St. Johnsbury. This is Tiffany's second Mid-Amateur title having won in 2007 at Ralph Myhre.  She has also been the Mid-Am runner-up 3 times.  Holly has been the runner-up for the past 2 years.  Kristin Mahoney of Rutland and Mary Brush of Burlington were tied for third with rounds of 78.  Defending champion Andrea Brown of Champlain finished tied for fifth with Terry Boyce of Killington at 79.  Mary Jane Shomo of Rutland,  Rhonda Colvard of Burlington, and Nancy Devaux of West Bolton were tied for seventh with 80's.  Mari Harter of Orleans, Barb Shiffler of Williston, and Cathy Neff of Vermont National were tied for tenth with rounds of 83.

Dana Cassidy of Vermont National was the Low Net winner with a net score of 66.  Her gross score was 82 and would have put her in tenth gross had she not captured the Low Net trophy.  Cheryl Hoar of Burlington was just two strokes back of Dana with a net score of 68 putting her in the second net spot.  Ann Irwin of Burlington finished in third net at 71.  Ginny Chenoweth of the Country Club of Vermont, Deb Basford of Burlington, and Tiffany's mom, Bonnie Maurycy of Williston, were tied for 4th net at 72. Nancy Cole of Lake Morey and Gretchen White of Williston were tied for seventh at 73.  Deirdra Howard of Northfield, Elizabeth Walker of Brattleboro, Amy Gregory of Burlington, and Jane Horton were all tied for ninth net with scores of 74.

The Burlington Country Club team edged the Williston team by just three strokes for the Margaret Dick Cup.  Burlington had a total of 226 to Williston's 229.

Once again the weather has played played havoc with the 2013 VSWGA tournament schedule.  Saturday's opening round of the Mid-Am was cancelled due to rain on Friday and Saturday morning causing the St. Johnsbury course to become unplayable. After a foggy start to Sunday's round, the sun finally came out the the day was beautiful.  The course was in remarkably good condition on Sunday considering the amount of rain that fell.

Many thanks to Mary Lou Bell of St. Johnsbury CC for most of the photos below.  She has taken many great photos over the last three years at the Seniors, the State Am, and the Mid-Am.
