Tiffany Maurycy Wins Mid-Am

Tiffany Maurycy of Williston fired the low round of the tournament today with a 76 to win the 2015 VSWGA Mid-Amateur Championship by five strokes over Jeanne Morrissey of Williston and defending champion Holly Reynolds of Copley. Tiffany birdied 15 and 16 to solidify her victory ending with a 157 total.  This is Tiffany’s thrid victory having won in 2007 and 2013.


Jeanne shot a 77 today for a 162 total to pull up into a tie for second with Holly. Both Jeanne and Holly birdied the 13th and 14th holes, and Jeanne added another birdie on 18. Jeanne was also the runner-up last year.  Maureen Quinn of Lake St. Catherine finished in fourth place with a 163 total. Terry Boyce of Killington and first round co-leader Mary Brush of Burlington were tied for fifth with 165's. Dede Mahler of the Country Club of Vermont was seventh at 169, Gretchen White of Williston was eighth at 172, Trish Wade of Green Mountain National was ninth at 173, and Wendy Drolette of Williston was tenth at 174.


Jule Dale of Vermont National won a sudden-death playoff with Maureen Quinn to win the low net trophy. Jo Allsopp of Quechee and Chris Johnson of St. Johnsbury were tied for 2nd net with 142 totals. Kathy Davis of Burlington was fourth at 144. Patty McGrath of Green Mountain National, Linda Maney of Northfield, Deb Savoie of Burlington, and Helen Poulin of Williston were all tied for fifth with scores of 146. Delina Gilroy of West Bolton, Eunice Bashaw of Crown Point, and Melissa Lafayette of Burlington were tied for ninth net at 146.


Williston won the Margaret Dick team trophy over the host Burlington Country Club team.  Williston had a score of 457 to Burlington’s 476.  The strong Williston team placed four players in the top ten.  They were also the winners of the Pat Job Cup at the Seniors’ and the Paquet Cup at the State Am.


Next year's championship will be held at Brattleboro Country Club.
