2002 Ruth Raymond Jones Memorial
Seniors' Championship
July 10 & 11, 2002
Brattleboro Country Club, Brattleboro, VT

Cindy Paquet, of Essex CC and Neshobe GC, won the Ruth Raymond Jones Seniors' Championship at Brattleboro Country Club Thursday by a narrow one-stroke margin over Virgina Vogel of Crown Point Country Club. Ginny nearly holed a 20-foot putt on the 18th hole to tie. Paquet started the day with a three-stroke lead over Ann Goodrich, 1998 winner, and a 5 stroke lead over Ginny. That lead began dwindling quickly as both Ann and Ginny started strong while Cindy three-putted 3 of the first 4 four holes.

The lead was back to three strokes over Ann and four strokes over Ginny after the first nine, however, Ginny fired a 2-over par back nine of 37 to finish with the tournament's low round of 77 for a total of 161, just one stroke behind Cindy who had a total of 160.

Ann Goodrich finished in third place with two-day total of 165. She also won the low net prize of a golf bag which is a tradition instituted by Ruth Raymond Jones (Jonsie) many years ago.

The Legend award went to Betsy Pratt of Sugarbush while the Super Senior award went to Joan Wilson of Burlington Country Club. The prize for the fewest putts went to Janet Austin also of Burlington.
