STATE DAY SIGN UP
It is preferred that golfers sign up and make changes or deletions for State Days using the Chelsea Tee Time System. If you are experiencing difficulties, please call the VSWGA office for assistance.
Golfers who call clubs directly for their tee times after placement MUST present a current GHIN index at State Day Registration.
REGISTRATION
| Division A | 0-15.0 |
| Division B | 15.1-20.0 |
| Division C | 20.1-24.0 |
| Division D | 24.1-29.0 |
| Division E | 29.1-36.0 |
CANCELLATIONS
- Cancellations will be accepted until 6:00pm the day prior to a VSWGA State Day event. Substitute golfers will be permitted but they must be a VSWGA paid member and have a current GHIN card to show at registration.
- A player who does not cancel or find a substitute will receive a penalty. See below for penalty policies.
After the final pairings have been made (Friday noon prior to the next State Day), cancellation of play does not cancel the cart fee obligation; the participant could be held responsible for that cart fee if the cart has not been cancelled.
POSTING SCORES
- All State Day scores must be adjusted using ESC and posted within one week, with a "T" after the score. "T" designates a tournament round. See Posting Your Scores for the Equitable Stroke Control information.
- Posting of scores will be monitored and any violations will be brought to the attention of the Board for review and possible sanctions, up to and including suspension from play in all VSWGA events for the season.
- No State Day scores will be posted by the clubs or the VSWGA office. Each player is responsible for posting their own ESC adjusted scores to GHIN within one week of the date of play.
WEEKLY TOURNAMENT POINTS
- Points are awarded for low gross and low net winners in the A, B, C, D, and E Divisions at weekly tournaments.
- The number of points awarded at each tournament is determined by the number of players in each division (see Point Scale below).

PENALTIES
Participation
If the player does not show up for
tournament play and has not cancelled or sent a substitute:
Participants
are allowed one penalty with no notice.
Upon
receipt of a second penalty, a courtesy/warning letter will be sent to
the participant notifying her of the two penalties and advising her of
the consequences.
A third penalty will result in a suspension of play for the rest of the season. If the third penalty occurs after August 15 of any year, and before the cut-off date for the current season (August 30, 2011, this year), the suspension will extend until June of the following year.
Disqualification / No Card / Medical Withdrawal
Disqualification: A player would receive a disqualification for a serious Rules violation. For example: a participant has hit five balls into a regular water hazard, her group is holding up the entire field and she decides to pick up and go to the other side of the hazard to continue play. This score cannot be used for the competition, but should be posted with the maximum strokes allowable for that hole. The scorecard should be noted disqualified or DQ by the appropriate name. No state day penalty will be assessed.
No Card Explanation: An example of a no card situation: the participant feels her score is too high and does not want to turn in a score for the competition or fails to complete the round due to anger or it starts to rain etc. The scorecard should be noted no card or NC by the appropriate name. The player should still post a score for handicap purposes following the ESC guidelines. No state day penalty assesed. However, if a player begins a pattern of posting a NC, the player will be given a warning after two No cards. A 3rd NC will be submitted for board review or suspension of play.
A Medical Withdrawal: When a participant comes down with a medical condition which prevents her from continuing play, the scorecard should be noted medical withdrawal beside the appropriate name. No state day penalty will be assessed.
Weather: In case of Storm or Thunder & Lightning
Anyone who feels threatened from an
approaching storm may leave the course at any time. Please
check in with the Club Rep or the Pro Shop.
Discontinue Play Immediatedly:
One prolonged note of the siren.
Discontinue Play: Three
consecutive notes of the siren, repeated. (Participants may complete
the hole being played prior to leaving the course.)
Resume Play: Two short notes of the siren, repeated.
In the event of a storm cancellation during a State Day, prize points will be awarded if 2/3 of the field completes the tournament.
If less than 2/3 of the field finish and play is cancelled, all contestants will be given Chelsea credits for the State Day, but no prize points will be awarded. The $20.00 State Day fee will not be refunded. Credit for cart fees is at the discretion of the host club.
OTHER
- USGA rules govern all play unless local rules are posted.
- Proper sporting behavior is expected of all players. The Board of Directors will review all complaints about unacceptable conduct. Said behavior could result in a one year's suspension for all VSWGA play.
