State Day Rules

  STATE DAY SIGN UP

  1. It is preferred that golfers sign up and make changes or deletions for State Days using the Chelsea Tee Time System.  If you are experiencing difficulties, please call the VSWGA office for assistance.

  2. Golfers who have used Chelsea to sign up for State Days will not need to show their GHIN card at State Day Registration.

  REGISTRATION

  1. Prior to starting play, State Day participants must check in at the registration area to pay the $20.00 State Day fee and show your current GHIN card if you did not book a tee time through Chelsea prior to Friday noon.  No club is permitted to look up current handicap information or call a participant's club on the day of the event. Golfers without current updated GHIN cards are not eligible for points.
  2. The handicap index determines the division a player will play in.
    Division A 0-15.0
    Division B 15.1-20.0
    Division C 20.1-24.0
    Division D 24.1-29.0
    Division E 29.1-36.0

  3. If you have reserved a cart, cart fees are set and paid in the Pro Shop. Players reserving carts will be held responsible for these fees at the discretion of each Club.
  4. "Carts Required" means that you must pay for a cart but you may walk, if the course officials allow it.

  CANCELLATIONS

  1. Cancellations will be accepted until 7:00pm the day prior to a specific VSWGA event.  Substitute golfers will be permitted but they must have paid the VSWGA Participation Fee and have a current GHIN card to show at registration.
  2. A player who does not cancel or find a substitute will receive a penalty.

  POSTING SCORES

  1. All State Day scores must be posted within one week, with a "T" after the score.  "T" designates a tournament round.
  2. Some clubs will post the scores for each player.  Please make sure you know if you have to post your score or if the host club is posting all scores.
  3. Posting of scores will be monitored and any violations will be brought to the attention of the Board for review and possible sanctions, up to and including suspension from play in all VSWGA events for the season.

  WEEKLY TOURNAMENT POINTS

  1. Points are awarded for low gross and low net winners in the A, B, C, D, and E Divisions at weekly tournaments.
  2. A minimum of 16 players is required for a given state day in order to award state day points.

  PENALTIES

  1. Penalties are given to anyone who:
    • posts a "No Card"
    • does not show for tournament play and has not cancelled or sent a substitute
    • does not have a current GHIN card when needed.
  2. The Board will review anyone receiving more than two penalties.  This review could result in a sanction, including, but not limited to, suspension from all play.

  IN CASE OF RAIN

  1. The committee will consult with the host Pro/manager and Superintendent on whether to cancel. In other situations, play shall be continuous and at the pre-scheduled tee times. (i.e. A group may not change their time to another open time to wait for the weather to change.)
  2. In the event of rain cancellation during a State Day, prize points will be awarded if 2/3rds of the field complete the tournament. (Anyone who "no cards" or withdraws on her own is considered to have completed the tournament.)
  3. If less that 2/3rds finish, all contestants will be given credit for State Day but no prize points will be awarded. The $20.00 State Day fee will not be refunded. Credit for cart fees is at the discretion of the host club.

  OTHER

  1. USGA rules govern all play unless local rules are posted.
  2. Proper sporting behavior is expected of all players. The Board of Directors will review all complaints about unacceptable conduct. Said behavior could result in a one year's suspension for all VSWGA play.
